Questionnaire Background
Immigration and integration were and are essential parts of
the great success of the United States. The United States
were founded by descendents of immigrants to the New World,
and immigrants are still a cornerstone in the U.S.
population structure.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Turkish
immigrants have come to the United States since 1820.
Regardless of the long history of Turkish immigration to the
United States, Turkish immigration and integration in the
United States and especially in California have not been
thoroughly documented or investigated.
Until today, there is little literature available about
Turkish immigrants either in California or in the United
States. The majority of studies on immigrants to California
have overlooked the Turkish American communities with their
contribution to the economy of California.
The
importance of this study lies in its emphasis on Turkish
immigrants as apart from other immigrant groups in
California.
This
questionnaire is an important part of the research process leading to a
dissertation about Turkish immigrants and their contribution
to business in California.
